As one of the first Volunteers in the early years of the Peace Corps, author Terry Sack had his work cut out for him-as well as his passions. He thoughtfully blends romance and humor to recall the enormity of what it was like to endure selection and training and ultimately become a Peace Corps Volunteer after having witnessed JFK's call to arms in a speech at the University of Michigan in 1961.
