The Boeing CH-47 is one of the world's most versatile and efficient helicopters. With its twin engines and twin contra-rotating props eliminating the torque problems found on single-engine helis, all of the C-47 Chinook's 10,000 hp is available to provide lift and thrust. Used for civilian applications including passenger service, cargo hauling, fire fighting and logging, it has also had a long career in combat and military support. Over 22 nations past and present have utlized it for troop movement, resupply, evacuation of wounded, and emplacement of artillery and vehicles. With a lifting capability of close to 25,000 lbs., it can even lift a damaged Chinook in a pinch! This CH-47 flight operating manual is used by the U.S. Army for instructional purposes . It tells pilots nearly everything they need to know before entering the cockpit. Although it has been slightly reformatted, this reprint contains all of the original text in its entirety.
