MICO is a freely available and complete CORBA 2.2.2 compliant implementation. This book and CD package will enable you to play with CORBA without paying big fees in advance. The CD contains the complete source code of MICO as well as pre-compiled binaries for various platforms. The source code of MICO falls under the GNU General Public License. MICO has all the features that many commercially available implementations are missing, such as: ORB, BOA, IIOP, DII, DSI, Interface Repository, IDL compiler, Any, TypeCode, Naming Service, and much more. Version 2.2.2 of MICO now includes Portable Object Adapter (POA), Interceptors, SSL support, Dynamic Any, Event-, Relationship-, Property-Service.
MICO only relies on GNU tools and can therefore be ported to platforms where the GNU tools are available. The CD with this book contains pre-compiled binaries for the following operating systems: Windows 95/98/NT, Solaris, AIX, Linux, Digital Unix, and HP-UX.
