This book is the only comprehensive guide to whitewater and flatwater paddling on the Payette River. The 214- page book provides detailed descriptions, maps and photos to 10 whitewater and 14 canoeing trips in the Payette River Basin. Located just 30 minutes north of Boise, the Payette River is a well-known world-class destination for expert paddlers because of the 15-mile Class 5 North Fork run, one of the most difficult river sections in North America. The South Fork and main stem of the Payette offer lots of Class 2, Class 3 and Class 4 rapids in a deep canyon. Other, lesser known sections of the Payette offer secluded flatwater canoe paddling for families and young children. The Payette is a superb river destination because it has season-long flows, clean water, a number of natural hot springs, and good fishing. No permits are required; there is a parking fee.
