On Orlik and its owners...
"If you were to travel to the edge of the world, you would not find such beauty." - those, who ever saw Orlik chateau, would like to paraphrase poet's words . Those who visited it and knew more do not doubt poet's words any more. The magic of the building's interior, the compelling beauty of the neighbouring landscape, the quality of the collections of art and mainly the unrepeatable atmosphere of the whole estate blend into one mighty, beautiful impression. There is nothing either overripe or bombastic. At first sight it is evident that Orlik served its owners modestly, but efficiently and reliably - it was a home, a refuge, a place of both work and rest. Still in the recent history, its owners, members of the ancient Schwarzenberg family, had to leave it twice enforcedly. For the first time it was during the Nazi protectorate, when the estate was sequestered; for the second time it was after the communist take-over in February 1948, after which complete Schwarzenberg property was communised. Justice was satisfied in 1992 when the property, including the chateau, was restituted by Karl VII. Schwarzenberg.
The cut-out model of the chateau in scale 1:250 is elaborated with the inclusion of the connecting bridge and part of the free area in front of the chateau, stony foot and the neighbouring lawns, which can be improved, such as in most of our models, with pastiche trees and lawns, due to which you achieve a more realistic appearance of the whole model.
The book contains: a base plan and individual parts of the buildings to be glued together, detailed instructions (in Czech, German and English) including several instructive pictures, historical description (in Czech, German and English) and photographs of the built model on the finished model on the back of the book.
