The collection was left for the Princeton University in 1936 by the elusive Colonel James A. Blair Jr. His fascinating biography from early beginnings in Tiffin, Ohio, to banker and club man in New York, from the comprehensive introduction, which includes an insightful examination of the formation of the collection in the early part of the twentieth century.
