Indeed, we might never have heard of a ragtag group of people called Israel had God not redeemed them from bondage. This redemption is described in the Book of Exodus.

The Book of Exodus begins with the Hebrews in life-threatening troubleâ€”facing genocide, in fact. As on earlier occasions when it seemed Godâ€™s promises were about to be negated, God acted. Miraculously, Exodus concludes with the people having been liberated from slavery, â€œthe glory of the LORDâ€ filling the tabernacle, and God leading the people as they journeyed on toward the Promised Land (Exodus 40:34-38). In between the beginning and the end of Exodus were lessons for the people about following God. These lessons are yet available to us as well as we study the Book of Exodus.
