Hal Leonard's The Visual Drumset Method Helps Beginning Drummers See Their Way to Playing.  Unique Book/CD Pack Uses Pictures to Illustrate Basic Beats MILWAUKEE - Hal Leonard Corporation, the world's largest music print publisher, has just released The Visual Drumset Method. In this innovative book/CD pack, author Matt Adrianson outlines a simple pictorial method for learning how to play basic drum beats. Loaded with photos throughout, The Visual Drumset Method is ideal for beginners who may be intimidated by the idea of learning to read music. The concept behind this publication is to use pictures instead of standard music notation to illustrate how to play basic drum beats - sort of an easy-to-follow drum tablature.  Players can practice along with the individual drum beats on the CD, then progress to the song tracks later on the disc. Hand grip, hand and foot positioning, and technique instructions are also discussed in detail. A teacher's chart illustrating traditional notation is included, and can be used to transition a student for further learning. Budding drummers don't even need a drumset; the book includes graphic cutouts of a hi-hat, snare and bass drum that can be placed on a table and the floor for practice.  Adrianson comments, "In teaching both piano and drums, I've found that you might have to communicate an idea several ways before it clicks.  I've constructed a visual approach in hopes of making learning more accessible and fun, and more in line with our video-intensive, multimedia world."

-'I've been a fan of Matt's drumming for years. I've benefited from his technique and skill on my own projects. I highly recommend and endorse his book for new drummers!' - Ken Reynolds
(producer and recording artist)
