This inventory of nearly 1000 plants used in Zulu traditional medicine is based on a survey dating from the late-19th century to the present. It is augmented by Tony Cunningham's investigation of the medicinal plant trade in Natal/KwaZulu, material gathered in interviews with traditional healers, and Anne Hutchings's preliminary herbal history survey of hospital patients.
