BURNOUT: How a Desert Lizard Restored My Faith (Burnout to Bliss Book 1)

Are you feeling stressed? Burnt out?Do you sometimes wonder if it’s not just the job but your whole life that sucks?
So did Dr. Young.

Dr. Pam Young was many things in 1988 – successful college professor, faculty governance leader, and regional consultant for how to work with students who were “different.” But no one ever knew just how “different” she was…or that someone wanted her dead…

This is not a "how-to" book.

BURNOUT is the personal story of a workaholic, spiritual seeker who experienced extreme burnout aka dark night of the soul with night visions and OBEs. It shows her struggle to keep going, and tells about everything she tried – from psychiatrist to psychic. And it reveals, remarkably, how real healing began when the author camped with spiritual leaders in a different country, in a culture vastly different from her own.

About the Burnout to Bliss series

Dr. Young's journey from Burnout to Bliss is told over a series of stories, from crash and burn to “break-away” jaunts that not only changed her life, but undoubtedly saved it. "Bliss" -- the hoped-for result of the seeker's quest -- concludes the series.

Book 2, SURRENDER, represents the first actual break-away from her job, leaving with no plans and one paycheck. In California she cycled daily to recover her lost self-esteem and confidence. She studied A Course in Miracles in a hot garage, talked with her dead father in her car, and then camped again with the shamans before moving to B.C..

Book 3 relates her life in B.C., bartering, before taking off for two months at a yoga center on the East coast where she learned how to take care of herself mentally, physically, and spiritually, added another perspective to her spiritual path, and acquired new skills to help others.

Book 4 is the collection of lessons learned, seen from a wiser, more enlightened perspective twenty-seven years later. It is the bookend for that long journey of forgiveness – started by her nemesis. This will be the “how to” handbook for anyone seeking a more positive experience.
