This is a memoir that combines hundreds of stories and memories into a narrative about a young man who begins his story at the draft board in Houston, and ends it on his last day of active duty in Seattle, and all that happened in between. It captures the mood of the young people of the day, while following the maturation of a green Naval officer into a confident Vietnam veteran. Essentially a view of daily life in the Navy of 40 years ago, it is abundant in characters, places and events that challenge the imagination.
