Colorado 1870 - 2000, Second Edition
John Fielder has rescanned the original transparencies that he shot for the project, and digitally edited the original Jackson negatives, to reveal new details not visible in previous editions. From downtown Denver in the 1880s to the top of Mount of the Holy Cross, you will see as never before change for the better and worse, lots of change or none at all, as Fielder tracks from one end of the state to the other Jackson s early Colorado explorations.
In addition, Fielder has included most of the commentary about the changes inherent in the repeat photographs by Dr. Colorado, Thomas J. Noel, the state s best-known historian. This was the subject of Colorado 1870-2000 Revisited: The History Behind the Images, no longer in print, but whose text is back in print in this second edition of Colorado 1870-2000. The 156 photo pair are the same magnificent size as before, but now with edifying writing about the change or lack thereof inherent in the comparison photographs.
