DUCATI 750SS IMOLA RACER 1973: FURTHER DEVELOPMENT OF THE FAMOUS 1972 IMOLA 200 WINNER - WITH NEW 'SHORT STROKE' ENGINE (The Motorcycle Files)

This edition of The Motorcycle Files is the only track test article ever written on the successor to Paul Smart’s legendary 1972 Imola 200-winning desmo Ducati V-twin. And while that bike was famously a modified production road bike, this one was the first outright Ducati Formula 750 racer – a true competition thoroughbred.
It was one of only three bikes built for the 1973 Imola 200, with a special short-stroke desmo V-twin engine and a full race chassis, neither of which owed anything to the 750SS streetbike.
