How to Tolerate CPAP Therapy for Your Sleep Apnea

This ebook shares lessons from my years of experience helping people overcome their difficulty adapting to CPAP therapy for sleep apnea. This is not a technical book nor a medical book. It explains in everyday terms how apnea occurs and how it affects the health, safety and wellbeing of those who have it. It also discusses alternative treatments and how to tell if you might benefit from one of them. It explains how CPAP works, why your doctor seems to prefer it and why it is so often the prescribed treatment, why it is sometimes very difficult to tolerate and what you can do about it. This book tells you all the things I wish I could remember to tell everyone who comes through our lab. It will give you the information to solve many of your problems with your CPAP and help you talk with your doctor about how to solve the others.

I have more than twenty-five years experience managing American Academy of Sleep Medicine accredited sleep centers, evaluating sleep disorders and implementing their treatments, especially sleep apnea. Everyday, I deal with people's problems with their CPAP machines and masks. I regularly conduct sleep disorders and CPAP support group meetings and an online support forum for our patients. The online forum is also open to buyers of this ebook. I listen to the problems people face and the solutions they find. And I use a CPAP machine. Thanks to my job, I get to try every new mask and machine and share this experience with the group.

END NOTE: New machines and masks have hit the market and much has happened since I wrote this ebook so it is time for a new edition. The information is still accurate and useful, especially for a new CPAP user, but the price has been permanently reduced and, until a new edition is ready, please keep that in mind.
