Jesse Jackson (Civil Rights Leaders)

The Reverend Jesse Jackson is one of the most articulate and recognizable figures of the civil rights movement. Working with Martin Luther King Jr.s Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC), his organizational skills and mesmerizing speaking style brought him national attention. Jackson waged groundbreaking campaigns for the Democratic Partys presidential nomination in 1984 and 1988. In recent years Jackson has continued to draw attention to the major issues of the African-American community.
