LIttle Book of Autorotations

Eagle Eye Solutions LLC is pleased to announce the publication of ‘The Little Book of Autorotations’ by noted helicopter pilot Shawn Coyle.
This book is the first book dedicated solely to the subject of landing a helicopter without engine power, and fills a large gap in helicopter training.
Accidents caused by training for autorotations have been a major contributor to the high overall accident rate of helicopters, and was recognized by the International Helicopter Safety Team as one of the areas in need of improvement.
This book is based on Coyle’s years of experience as an instructor pilot, engineering test pilot and experimental test pilot instructor. It draws on real-world experience in in training and civil certification.
It explains in simple terms the build-up necessary to develop the skills needed to safely carry out training autorotations while at the same time learning how to deal with a real engine failure.
There is almost no theory, and few formulae. Explanations of why things are the way they are center on what the pilot would see, hear and feel in the cockpit, finishing with explanations of how all the variables can be used to best effect.
The book covers the Height Velocity curve in detail and explains how it is developed and what that means in practical terms to everyday operations.
