My life at Sri Ramansaram
The author of this book is Suri Nagamma who is well known for her earlier work the “Letters from Sri Ramanasramamâ€.This book begins and ends on an autobiographical note but the rest of the book is a gripping narration of the events that unfolded themselves day after day around Sri Ramana Maharshi at the Old Hall. She tells the story of her own personal life progressively blending and then merging in life at the Asramam.
Before joining the ashram destiny in its cruel kindness had tested her in the fire of tragic suffering right from her childhood. She had plumbed the depths of despair and depression and practiced religious austerities, worship, chanting, meditation, pilgrimages and social service. She was drawn to Sri Ramana Maharshi in 1941 at the age of 39 when the sage appeared in a dream as her Guru. On visiting him in person she became settled in the conviction that that He is the one who appeared to her in a dream. From then on she never looked back. She came looking for peace but found that she was in in the Presence of the Peace that passeth understanding. Maharshi’s grace lifted her from the depths of depression to the peak of inner joy which sings through the pages of all her books on the sage and enlivens the reader. The Dream-Guru was awakening her.
Her pure heart mirrors the grace of the Maharshi through her writings.
