Raising Great Boys as a Single Mom

Just because we as single women aren’t men, doesn’t mean that we can’t raise our boys to become men. Great men, at that! We may not have the same anatomy, or really understand the fascination with sports and bugs and guts and gore, but that’s not what’s important, as boys become men. As long as we have the want, the will, the support system and our own core values set in stone, we can raise wonderful, mindful sons as single moms – even if dad is never around.

As difficult as it might be to see it initially, things really are this way for a reason, and they can even be better this way.



Across the ages mothers have discovered that raising boys as opposed to girls is different. When we think of girls we think of frills, ruffles, pretty dolls, and pretty hair. Boys don’t want any of this stuff. They want to wear pants, play with trucks, compete in sports, and flex their masculinity. But raising a boy involves so much more than this.
