Santa Fe 1940-1971 in Color, Vol. 4: Texas-El Capitan
Used Book in Good Condition
Volume 4 finishes up this handsome series with a book packed with information from veteran railroad author Lloyd Stagner. Ride the Santa Fe from Newton, Kansas through Oklahoma and down into the Lone Star State as everything from 2-6-2s to FTs to U28CGs power the trains, with stops in Dallas, Fort Worth and Houston. Then take the El Capitan west from Dearborn, crossing the Raton and Cajon, looking at long gone steam and diesel locomotives. In Los Angeles, there is a tour of the terminal and a look at two of the rarest ATSF diesel paint schemes that ever existed: an all-blue FT set photographed in the 1950s and a soled gold PA from 1960. Illustrated throughout with gorgeous color photos. 128 pages.
