“This book infuses readers with practical information on the health issues relating to water quality and suggest ways we can improve the quality and safety of our waterâ€.Â
Most people take water for granted. We assume that when we fill our glass, bathtub, or washing machine, it will be with clean water … But is it safe? … And if not, what can we do about it?
We consume water in our drinks, in our foods, and it is even absorbed by our skin when bathing or swimming.
Small amounts of contaminants in drinking water increase our susceptibility to many chronic illnesses that are becoming increasingly prevalent in our society. Illnesses such as Alzheimer’s, cancer, and heart disease are on the rise. Contaminants in our water have also been linked to increased rates of infertility.
We are born with about 70% water content in our bodies and our water percentage declines as we age. Body water percentage can give a reasonably accurate estimate of our age. Drink more water to increase your water percentage and your body will be younger.
Â
"Water is a most important part of good nutrition, good health, and quality life".Many sources recommend drinking 2 quarts of water every day (eight 8-ounce glasses), but that hard rule is a bit naïve. You might need to drink more if you live in a hot climate, sweat a lot at play, at work, or exercise. Clearly, a man who weighs 190 pounds needs more water than a woman who weighs 110 pounds. You should be drinking enough water to make your urine clear or nearly clear and not yellow.
Your intake of juice, coffee, tea, alcohol, pop (hopefully not) or any other drink should not be counted as part of your total water intake … It is in addition to your water intake.
You are dehydrated in the morning after a night sleeping. You should start the day with 12 to 16 ounces of clean filtered water. Make this a daily ritual.
Note: Alcohol dehydrates you so you will need more water!
