For more than thirty years, Fred H. Lobb has been collecting Chinese-language folktale anthologies, expertly translating the stories for use in the classroom. Here he presents many of these folktales, legends, myths, and proverbs from a land he deeply loves - Taiwan.

The stories included in this volume originate from the majority population of Taiwan, the Hokkien - and Hakka-speaking Taiwanese of Han Chinese descent. A few myths and a folktale also come from the aboriginal people of Taiwan.
