The year is 1914.

Whilst playing cricket, Michael Halahan meets the allusive, married but flirtatious Lady Killick who draws him into her clutches.

But they are to be separated and Michael is desperate to see her again.

As war break out, Michael goes straight from school to combat, becoming a ruthless young Royal Flying Corps pilot.

He is driven by two predominant desires: glory and self-preservation.

He flies up the ranks, helped by his contacts, impressive education and fluency in French but his chance of survival is slim as he’s thrown into treacherous battles.

Lady Killick is no longer his main focus, but sheer survival...though he doesn’t object to seducing plenty of women as he rests from battle around Europe, starting with the pretty nurse who helps him recover from an early injury...

From the Western Front in 1914 to the Italian Front in 1915 and the Mesopotamian Front in 1916, Michael must confront both the gorgeous women and the fighting aircraft of France, Italy, Germany, Austro-Hungary and Turkey.

Richard Townsend Bickers volunteered for the RAF on the outbreak of the second world war and served, with a Permanent Commission, for eighteen years. He wrote a range of military fiction and non-fiction books, including ‘Torpedo Attack’, ‘My Enemy Came Nigh’ and ‘Summer of No Surrender’.
