The Marriage Band: The Story About Ann Fay, an Irish Convict

Ann's only possession was her mother's old marriage band, but she made some foolish choices.
Set against a backdrop of late 18th century Dublin, The Marriage Band is an historical fiction of crime, mistrust, desperation and ultimately happiness.
Ann and her workmate Catherine were charged with stealing, convicted and sentenced to transportation to NSW for seven years. Catherine was prevented from leaving Ireland, but was given the marriage band.
Ann arrived in NSW in 1796. Life in NSW had many twists and turns - happiness, sadness and loss - and if not for the love of her family Ann may have succumbed to hopelessness.
Hope was re-kindled when Catherine arrived in Parramatta years later, and Ann thought she could reclaim the marriage band. But Catherine said it had been sold.
But had it? On Catherine's death a parcel was found containing a letter directing all her possessions to be left to Ann's granddaughter Elizabeth.
