The Preacher

[SHORT STORY] Hector and Sidney, two guys on a job, one young, one old. Hector's seen all the gangster movies and finally feels like he's made it - trouble is, he's been partnered with this fossil who clearly hasn't seen any of the gangster movies, because Sidney doesn't believe in profanity. As a result, Hector is left tying himself in knots in his attempts not to curse or swear, and he still has to learn his biggest lesson of the night, that nothing in the underworld is ever quite what it seems. This short story first appeared in "Expletive Deleted" (Bleak House Books, 2007). Please be advised that although Hector does manage to avoid profanity, this story still contains adult themes.
