The Unmaking of a Nun
This book was written between 1968 (45 years) and 1972 (41 years). It is a story of spiritual struggle with a life commitment in the repressive and rigid environments that were characteristic of religious orders of that time. In a way, it is a coming of age story, a search to either reaffirm or reject fundamental beliefs. Rachel Ethier Rosenbaum went on to become the president of The Carroll Center for the Blind, a rehabilitation center for newly blinded adults enabling her to transfer her commitment to God into commitment to the welfare of persons who become blind - another kind of vocation. She lives in Newton, MA. with Peter, her husband of 41 years. Their two sons live in Raleigh and Seattle.
