I designed the VapoKarb back in the 1980's in response to Allan Wallace's book “Secrets of the 200 MPG Carburetor."
His book sold like crazy for $10 (over 600,000 copies) - for over 5 years!
The “200 MPG Carburetor" is for real!
The so-called “200 MPG Carburetor" was designed by Charles Nelson Pogue way, way back in the 1930‘s. The invention is for real (U.S. Patent #: 1,750,354).
Even Pogue was for real!
Yes, Pogue was a real person (see “Wikipedia") - but most things written about the “Super-Carb" and Pogue are B.S. (“Bull Stuff" - if you know what I mean).
Pogue's “Super-Carb" is complicated.
Two friends had Wallace's book and were trying to build their own “Pogue 200 MPG Carb."
Unfortunately, the thing's complicated - and critical details were missing from the patent drawings.
That's when I decided to design my VapoKarb.
Fuel Vaporizing is the Secret!
To achieve super-high MPG's, fuel has to be vaporized. Pogue's vaporizing method (using exhaust gas heat) was quite complicated - and a major safety hazard.
My VapoKarb design uses electrically heated wire grids for vaporization. Along with aerodynamically shaped vanes to induce fuel “spiraling" (the VapoKarb's “Vapo-Cyclone" - for even vapor distribution).
The VapoKarb Works!
After lots of testing, tweaking, and re-designing I installed it on my reliable, but “Gas-Guzzling" Mercury Monarch.
My old Merc didn't turn into a “200 MPG" wonder car (more like 15% - 20% boost in MPG's) and was no drag racer - but it was running smoother - with a bit more “pep".
