First Edition (published by the Viking Press in October 1955) in clean unclipped original dust jacket. Clean decorated paper-covered boards with rust cloth spine, blue lettering on spine. Tiny bump to one corner tip. No fraying or wear. Binding is tight and square, no cracking. Pages and edges are clean, with clean decorated endpapers. No names, writing or marks. Illustrations by the author. 503 pages. Clean dust jacket is not price clipped (4.95 on front inside flap), has a few very shallow chips at base of spine, closed curved tear at top rear spine fold (1"), a few additional tiny closed edge tears. Enclosed in new archival quality removable mylar cover.
