After he located it, and opened it, he removed the top metal tray exposing a number of sealed canvas bags about the size of a two pound box of sugar. A closer look at the bags revealed that they contained "Two Thousand Five Hundred Dollars" in ten dollar gold coins, with a mint date of 1890 stenciled on them. When I asked Jake why he was giving them to me, he replied, 'This is for writing the book you promised me."
