Chicago private investigator Ray Dudgeon has spent two sleepless nights gathering evidence of a husband’s infidelity. He’s not exactly surprised when his client offers him twenty thousand dollars to kill her husband, but she’s misread him. Dudgeon’s just not that sort of man. He calls the FBI to set up a sting, but what happens next leaves him questioning both his assumptions and his actions—and regretting their dire consequences.
